FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Seven Huskies are playing this week in the 48th Pacific Coast Amateur at Pine Canyon. At the end of the first round Corey Pereira, Tyler Salsbury, and Jonathan Sanders are all tied for 22nd place, sitting at even par.

The three returning players for Washington shot rounds of even-par 70 and are eight strokes off the lead. Andrew McClain leads the tournament after setting the course record at Pine Canyon with an 8-under 62.

In addition to the returning Huskies, two incoming Husky freshman are participating in the tournament hoping to get a kick-start on the upcoming season. Frank Garber, out of Juanita high school finished with a 1-over 71 and is tied for 30th place, while Jordan Lu, from Vancouver, B.C. is tied for 52nd place after a 4-over 74.

Lastly, Chris Babcock is tied for 64th place, with a first-round of 5-over 75 adn Kevin Kwon shot a 7-over 77 and is currently tied for 74th place.

All seven players will be back on the course Wednesday for the continuation of the Pacific Coast Amateur, a four day, 72-hole tournament.
