NORMAN, Okla. -- No. 8 Washington had four honorees with the announcement of the PING All-Region Team on Thursday. Cheng-Tsung Pan, Corey Pereira, Jonathan Sanders and Trevor Simsby each were named All-Region as the Huskies were the only school from the West Region with four honorees.
Pan and Simsby are both repeat winners for the Huskies after leading the Dawgs to runner-up finishes at both the Pac-12 Championships and NCAA Raleigh Regional. Pan won the Kikkor Husky Invitational in the fall, while Simsby is tied for the team lead with five top-10 finishes this season.
Pereira and Sanders are each being honored for the first time. Pereira, just a freshman, has been steady all season with five top-10's, including a T-8th at the Pac-12 Championships. Sanders has been on fire this spring with two wins and five top-10's. He earned his first career victory at the Bandon Dunes Championship and followed that up with a win last week at the NCAA Raleigh Regional.
The Dawgs will tee it up at the NCAA Championships beginning May 23 with a lineup that includes the four All-Region honorees along with Chris Babcock. Washington will have three days of stroke play with the hope of advancing to the match play portion of the tournament reserved for the top-eight teams. In addition, the top-40 individuals will play a final round for the NCAA Medalist on May 26.
