SUDBURY, Ont. – Incoming UW freshman Kevin Kwon led the Canadian Junior Boys Championship from start to finish to earn the win at Timberwolf Golf Club in Sudbury, Ont. Kwon shot 3-under 69 in Friday’s final round to finish with a four-day total of 12-under 276.

Kwon was the only golfer to shoot double-digits under par and cruised to a five shot victory over the field. Matthew Scobie finished runner up at -7.

“It feels great,” said Kwon following his victory to “I was really nervous today but I tried to do the same thing I did the past few days and I found a way to win.”

Kwon held a three-shot lead heading into the final round and was able to maintain his lead with a hot start. He started his round with a birdie and added two more on the front nine. He bogeyed 14 and 16 to open the door for the rest of the field, but slammed it shut with back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes.

The victory marks Kwon’s second Canadian Junior Boys Championship title.
