RADIUM HOT SPRINGS, B.C. -- Charlie Hughes beat Adam Svensson in a playoff to claim the 2013 British Columbia Amateur Championship at Copper Point Golf Club on Friday.
Hughes needed two sudden-death playoff holes to secure the win, but did so when he drained an over 10-foot birdie, while Svensson scored par.
Both golfers finished regulation at 12-under 272. Hughes needed to bury a 12-foot birdie to force the playoff.
Hughes, who graduated from Washington in 2013, shot even-par 70 in regulation. Svensson carded the low round of the day with a 5-under 65.
Also among the the leaderboard was incoming freshman Kevin Kwon. He ended up fourth with a four-day score of 7-under 277. He served as Hughes' caddy during the playoff.
Former Husky Kevin Spooner also recorded a top-10 finish. He tied for fifth at -6 overall.
