No. 5 Huskies To Host UCLA In Top 5 Showdown

SEATTLE – The Huskies continue their opening homestand of the season, as the fifth-ranked Huskies will host No. 2 UCLA this weekend in a matchup of two top-5 Pac-12 teams.

The Huskies opened their home schedule with a series against Utah last weekend, winning the home opener, 5-2, and dropping game two, 3-2, in nine innings. The third scheduled game of the series on Sunday was rained out.

The Huskies are 4-2 vs. the Bruins over the last two seasons, including a three-game sweep at UCLA last season.

This weekend marks the second of four home series for the Huskies. After this weekend’s series against the Bruins, the Huskies remaining games will take place April 17 – 19 vs. Arizona State and May 2 – 4 vs. Arizona.

Game One: Saturday, March 22 vs. No. 2 UCLA Bruins at 2:00 p.m.

Notable

  • The Huskies are ranked No. 5 in the most recent USA Today/NFCA Poll, staying at that spot for the second consecutive week. In the latest ESPN/USA Softball Poll, the Huskies checked in at No. 6 for the third straight week.
  • Bryana Walker threw 6.0 solid innings to earn her 12th win of the season, and Kylee Lahners went 2-for-3 with her 10th home run, as the Huskies defeated Utah, 5-2, on Opening Night on Friday at Husky Softball Stadium.

Short Hops

  • New this year to Husky Softball is the Team of the Game promotion. Youth softball team with players currently in 8th grade and under, plus two coaches, will receive free General Admission tickets, be on the field with the Huskies for the national anthem, and receive an autographed team poster, as well as a group welcome during the game.
