EUGENE, Ore. – The Huskies lost both games of a doubleheader to the Oregon Ducks on a rainy Saturday afternoon in Eugene, Oregon.
Game one went to the No. 2 Ducks (29-4) by a final of 8-0 in five innings. The Ducks took game two, 4-0, over the No. 5 Huskies (21-9). Each game was halted for a rain delay. Game one was stopped after the top of the 4th inning for 35 minutes, and game two was halted in the top of the 5th for 27 minutes.
The Ducks jumped out for six runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning in game one against Huskies starter Kaitlin Inglesby. The scoring in the inning was capped by a grand slam home run off the bat of Oregon sophomore Alyssa Gillespie.
The Ducks added two runs in the bottom of the 4th on a two-run home run from Courtney Ceo.
Inglesby took the loss in game one and fell to 6-3 on the season. Kasey Stanchek threw 2.0 innings in relief of Inglesby.
Because of intermittent rain all day, the Huskies and Ducks quickly resumed play for the second game of the doubleheader.
The Huskies had the first scoring opportunity in the game, loading the bases with nobody out in the top of the 2nd on an Inglesby single and back-to-back walks to Fagaly and Ali Aguilar. But Cheridan Hawkins, making her second start of the day, got two fly balls and a strikeout to get out of the inning unscathed. Hawkins threw 12.0 innings for the Ducks and earned two victories to improve to 17-2.
The Ducks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd on a two-out RBI single. Oregon added two runs in the 5th and one in the 6th for the final margin of 4-0.
Victoria Hayward recorded the only multi-hit game of the day for the Huskies.
Bryana Walker threw all 6.0 innings but took the loss to drop to 13-5.
The Huskies and Ducks will return to the field tomorrow for a scheduled 3:00 p.m. first pitch live on the Pac-12 Networks.
