SEATTLE – The No. 2 Huskies dropped their second game in a row Saturday at Husky Softball Stadium, losing to the No. 2 UCLA Bruins, 4-2.

Kaitlin Inglesby allowed four runs (two earned) over 7.0 innings and took the loss to fall to 6-2 on the season.

With a single leading off the bottom of the 1st inning, Victoria Hayward extended her season-best hitting streak to nine games. Hayward is batting .385, with seven runs scored, two doubles, and one RBI over her last nine games.

But it would be the Bruins who scored first, as they took a 3-0 lead in the top of the 3rd inning on a pair of singles, two walks and a hit batter.

The Huskies answered right back with two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to cut the Bruins’ lead to one, 3-2. Hayward and Inglesby came around to score on a bases-loaded hit batter to Ali Aguilar and a bases loaded walk to Kimberlee Myers, respectively.

But the Bruins added a run in the top of the 7th, and the Huskies were shut down by UCLA starting pitcher Ally Carda over the final four innings of the game. Carda improved to 16-1 with the victory.

The Huskies are back to take on the Bruins on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the second game of the series. The game will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks. Find the Pac-12 Network on your cable provider here.
