LAS VEGAS – Junior Kylee Lahners hit a three-run home run for the third game in a row, and the Huskies moved to 3-0 on the young season with a 6-1 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday afternoon at the UNLV SportCo Kick-Off Classic.

Senior Kaitlin Inglesby took over in relief of starter Bryana Walker and picked up her 2nd win of the season, tossing 4.0 innings in relief and allowing just two hits while holding Arkansas scoreless.

Walker went 3.0 innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits.

After senior Victoria Hayward led off the bottom of the 1st inning with a single, Inglesby drew a one-out walk. Then, Lahners followed with a towering three-run home run to give the Huskies an early 3-0 lead. For Lahners, it was her third three-run home run in three games. Through the first three games of 2014, Lahners is batting .364 with three home runs and 10 RBI.

This is not the first time Lahners has opened a season swinging a hot bat. In the first five games of 2012, Lahners hit .429, with three home runs, and seven RBI.

The Razorbacks threatened the Huskies lead multiple times, but Walker and Inglesby held them in check.

The Huskies escaped bases-loaded jams in three consecutive innings. The Razorbacks loaded the bases in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings, but Walker induced an inning-ending double play in the 2nd to minimize the damage at just one run. Despite loading the bases with nobody out, the Razorbacks were held scoreless in the 3rd. After taking over in the circle to start the 4th inning, Inglesby got out of a base-loaded, one-out jam with a double-play.

The Huskies got some insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. With two outs, sophomore Courtney Gano drew a walk, and pinch-hitter freshman Kimberlee Myers singled for her first collegiate hit. Then, senior Whitney Jones drove both runners home with a double. Sophomore Jennie McNeill followed with an RBI-single to give the Huskies a 6-1 lead.

The Huskies will face UNLV later today at 6:00 p.m. Live audio from the Voice of Husky Softball, Mike Brown, as well as live stats will be available here.
