Huskies Ranked No. 5 In ESPN/USA Softball Poll

SEATTLE – The Huskies were ranked No. 5 in the Softball preseason poll released Tuesday morning, receiving two first-place votes.

The Huskies have been ranked in the top 25 of the ESPN/USA Softball poll in each of the past 12 years since the poll debuted in 2003. This is the Huskies highest ranking in the ESPN/USA Softball preseason poll since 2010 when they were ranked No 1, following Washington’s 2009 national championship. The Huskies were also ranked No. 5 in 2003 and 2004.

Last week, the Huskies were ranked No. 3 in the NFCA preseason poll.  

The Huskies return 14 letterwinners from last year’s team, which went 45-17 and finished 3rd at the Women’s College World Series. The returning players include First-Team All-American pitcher Kaitlin Inglesby and First-Team All-Pacific Region recipients infielder Hooch Fagaly and outfielder Victoria Hayward.

The Huskies will open the 2014 season on at the UNLV/Sportco Kick-Off Classic on Friday, February 7 vs. Baylor at 9:00 a.m. in Las Vegas, Nev. Baylor is ranked No. 18 in the NFCA preseason poll and No. 16 in the ESPN/USA Softball preseason poll.

·      Reserve season tickets for the 2014 season today. Single-game tickets for the Huskies 12-game home schedule go on sale Wednesday, February 26. More information is available here.

·      The Huskies open their home schedule Friday, March 14 against Pac-12 foe Utah at 5:00 p.m. at Husky Softball Stadium. Promotions include "Softball Friday Night Under the Lights" and Professor Appreciation night, where professors with an invite gain free admission, and faculty and staff tickets are just $3. 

·      All season long, take advantage of the Huskies new ticket redemption promotion. Exchange a used ticket from a previous 2014 Husky softball home game for a $3 general admission ticket to a future 2014 regular season Husky softball home game.
