SEATTLE – The Huskies opened the 2013 Fall Classic with a 16-0 exhibition win over the Bellevue Bulldogs on Friday night at Husky Softball Stadium.

Senior Kaitlin Inglesby and junior Kasey Stanchek each pitched 3.0 scoreless innings, as the Huskies blanked the Bulldogs on just three hits. Senior Hooch Fagaly led the Huskies offensively with 3 hits and 3 RBI as the team totaled 16 hits, five of which went for extra-bases.

Fagaly got the scoring started in the bottom of the 1st inning, driving home Victoria Hayward with a single. The next four batters recorded an RBI, and the Huskies took a 5-0 lead after the 1st. It would be all the scoring Inglesby needed, as she allowed just two base runners in 3.0 innings while striking out three.

Stanchek held the Bulldogs in check over the last three innings, striking out the final five batters of the game. She finished with 6 strikeouts while allowing just 2 hits.

The Huskies added 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th, highlighted by a pair of doubles off the bat of freshman Bridget Raftery.

The Huskies continue play on Saturday at 3 p.m. vs. Seattle U and at 5:00 p.m. vs. Wenatchee Valley College at Husky Softball Stadium. Both games will be Cancer Awareness Pink games, as the Huskies will be wearing pink jerseys that will later be featured in an auction to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). All funds raised by the auction will be donated to BCRF, which has donated over $7 million in grants to cancer researchers at the UW Medical Center and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
