High School: Attended Newport High School in Bellevue, Wash. …graduated with a 3.8 GPA…lettered for the softball team all four years, including three years as captain…3-time all-league (KingCo 4A) selection…led Newport to its first appearance at the state tournament in school history her senior year…the only girl to ever play football at Newport…also lettered in soccer her senior year.

Club: Played for the Northwest Bullets (Portland, Ore.), coached by Tony Campos and Dennis Muir, from 2012-2013…Played for the Lake Breeze Gold (Lake Stevens, Wash.), coached by Margo Leiter from 2010-2012…Played for Rijo Athletics (Woodinville, Wash.), coached by Troy Silva, Jose Rijo, and James Jeske.

Personal: Born in Seattle, Wash. …daughter of Chris and Sally Raftery, both of whom attended the UW…has two older sisters, Jillian and Patricia…interested in majoring in mechanical engineering.

Raftery on why she chose Washington: “I chose Washington because I’ve grown up watching the team play my entire life. I bleed purple and gold. They have the best academics and athletics in the country.”

Raftery on what being a Husky means to her: “Being a Husky means being passionate. It means giving 100 percent in everything you do, whether it’s just picking up balls in the outfield or cheering on a teammate or doing your homework. It’s just being passionate and giving it your all.”
