SEATTLE – Husky goalkeeper Megan Kufeld has been named to the District 8 Captial One Academic All-District First Team as announced on Thursday. Kufeld has starred in goal for Washington this season, but also excels in the classroom.

Members of the Academic All-District Team were carefully selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America in recognition of the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Earning this honor also means Kufeld will be eligible for Academic All-America honors that will be announced later this fall.

As valedictorian of her high school class, Kufeld has continued her academic trajectory at Washington. The molecular biology major holds a stellar 3.95 grade-point average.

On the field Kufeld has started all 17 games in goal this season, playing every minute besides the final 13 in a blowout victory of Seattle U. She has totaled 74 saves with a goals allowed average of 0.78.  Kufeld owns seven shutout for the year and combined with Sarah Shimer on an eighth in that same game versus Seattle U.

Kufeld and the Dawgs continue Pac-12 play Thursday night when they play host to Stanford at 7 p.m. The Dawgs close with three games at home as they look for a return trip to the NCAA Tournament.
