SEATTLE -- The Washington women's soccer season is underway. While the team is led by a deep and talented senior class, the Dawgs have also added a group of talented freshmen. GoHuskies.com got a chance to speak to each of the new Huskies. Today, Amanda Perez.
Why did you come to Washington?
Perez: "I always felt like Seattle was the perfect fit for me. The University of Washington's soccer staff and team were a huge part of my decision. I've wanted to be a part of the program since I was little."
What do you hope to contribute this season and in your career as a Husky?
Perez: "Getting my first CAP with the full women's Mexican National Team."
What is the greatest moment of your playing career so far?
Perez: "Playing with my two older sisters, Veronica and Stephanie, in our front yard. I always had to get the ball when it got stuck underneath our car."
What is your first memory of playing soccer?
Perez: "The first thing I remember is the shin guards being bigger than my legs."
What do you do for fun?
McElvaine: "Play soccer-soccer tennis, Settlers of Catan, and a competitive ping-pong game here and there."
Who is the most inspirational person in your life and why?
Perez: "My eldest sister Veronica. She is the most humble person I know and my role model on and off the field."
What is your favorite meal: I love kung pao shrimp, but I have to go with my grandma's enchilladas.
What is your favorite movie: Remember The Titans.
What is favorite type of music: Anything I can sing along with.
If you didn't play soccer, what sport would you play: Indoor soccer.
What is the best book you have ever read: The Kite Runner.
