Ben Thienes

Ben Thienes joined the Washington staff as a defensive graduate assistant coach in January, 2014.

Theines comes to the UW from Boise State, where he spent the last three seasons on Coach Chris Petersen's staff. He was a graduate assistant coach in 2012 and 2013 after having served as a quality control intern in 2011.

Before moving back to Boise State, his alma mater, Thienes spent four seasons on the staff at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa, where he spent time as the defensive backs coach, special teams coordinator, video coordinator and strength & conditioning coordinator.

Prior to Ellsworth, he was a coach at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., in 2007 and at Meridian High in Idaho in 2006.

A graduate of Cole Valley Christian in Meridian, Idaho, Thienes played football at Palomar College (San Marcos, Calif.) from 2003 to 2005. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in psychology from Boise State in 2008.
