Jordan Paopao was named to Coach Chris Petersen’s staff in January of 2014, having served as the Huskies’ tight ends coach in a full-time capacity in 2013 and as a graduate assistant in 2011 and 2012.

In 2014, he’ll return as Washington’s tight ends coach.

Paopao spent the last three seasons coaching Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who capped his three-year college career by winning the 2013 John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end. Seferian-Jenkins broke numerous UW records (including single-season and career receptions by a tight end, single-season and career receiving yards by a tight end and career receiving touchdowns by a tight end). In 2013, he led the UW in receiving TDs with eight.

Paopao was named to the UW staff as a full-time assistant coach in January of 2013, having served as a graduate assistant the past two seasons, both of which he spent as the Huskies’ primary tight ends coach.

Paopao came to the UW from Stanford, where he served as a recruiting assistant under Jim Harbaugh, who coached him during his playing career at the University of San Diego.

At USD, Paopao was a three-time, first-team All-Pioneer Football League selection and three-time Mid-Major All-American. He was a four-year starter at center and twice helped the Toreros to a pair of 11-1 seasons.

Between his time at Stanford and the UW, Paopao spent a season as recruiting coordinator, offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Azusa Pacific.

Paopao, who prepped at El Camino High in Oceanside, Calif., is the son of former UCLA football player Tony Paopao and the nephew of former standout BC Lions quarterback Joe Paopao. Jordan earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from USD in 2008.
