NEW YORK – Washington's Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2013 John Mackey Award, given annually to the nation's top college tight end.
Seferian-Jenkins, a junior from Fox Island, Wash., was one of three finalists for the award last season and is the only one of the three returing to the college ranks this season.
Through just two seasons, Seferian-Jenkins has already set school records for career receptions (110), career receiving yards (1,388) and career touchdowns (13) by a tight end at a school known for its rich history at the position. Last year, he also set school records for catches (69) and yards (850) in a season.
The Husky football team opens the 2013 season Aug. 31 when Boise State comes to the newly-renovated Husky Stadium.
