PORTLAND, Ore. -- Former Husky defender Taylor Peay scored his first professional goal last night for the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer. The Timbers rookie and NSCAA All-American for the Dawgs, Peay scored in the 68th minute of a 3-0 Portland win.

Peay came on as a substitute for Portland who faced Orlando City in the U.S. Cup. Already leading 2-0, Peay was played on an overlapping run up the right side. He used just one touch to finish, beating the Orlando City keeper at the near post.

The goal was the first as a pro for Peay who scored six last season for the Huskies as they won the Pac-12 title and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Peay was the 26th pick of the MLS Draft in January by the Timbers, but had bean on loan to Orange Country Blues FC of the USL. His goal came in his first appearance for the full Timbers squad.

After the game, Peay received a log slab given to each Timbers player after a goal. You can see a quick instram video of Peay with his log slab HERE.
