SEATTLE – Husky head coach Jamie Clark has announced the addition of Henry Wingo to next year’s group of incoming freshman. Wingo has signed his National Letter of Intent and will join the group of six Huskies announced last week (Clark Signs Six To National Letters Of Intent).

Wingo is a local product who attended Shorecrest High School and played his club soccer for the Seattle Sounders Academy.

“Henry is likely the most talented attacking player in the state of Washington,” said Clark. “His combination of technique, athleticism and vision is rare and will allow him to play any attacking position on the field. Most importantly he's another top local player that will proudly wear the Purple and Gold as we take on the nation’s best.”

Wingo is a right-footed, 6-foot winger and outside midfielder that has starred for the Sounders Academy. He has scored 12 goals for the Sounders U-18’s over the past two seasons. Wingo also has experience with the U.S. Youth National Team, playing for the U-14 and U-15’s, while being selected to the U-17 National Team Pool.

“Henry is equally adept at playing centrally or wide, as he is just as happy to set up an attacking play from a pass or off the dribble,” said Clark. “He should add to our already potent attacking group and vie for playing time right away.”

Wingo is listed as the 68th-ranked player in the nation by CollegeSoccerNew.com. In the TopDrawerSoccer.com rankings, Wingo ranks 74th in the country.

He comes from an athletic family that includes brother Teddy Wingo who played collegiately at Vermont and now professionally for Stryn Fotball Klub in Norway.

Wingo joins next year’s class that already included Kyle Coffee, Justin Fiddes, Luke Hauswirth, Eliot Havens, Garret Jackson and Scott Menzies.
