NSCAA Release

SEATTLE – Four members of the Washington men’s soccer team were honored by the NSCAA on Monday for being named to the All-Far West Region Teams. Taylor Peay and Darwin Jones earned first team honors, while James Moberg and Cristian Roldan were named to the second team.

Peay captained the Washington defense that allowed just 17 goals in 22 games. The senior was recently named a semifinalist for the MAC Herman Trophy and was also All-Pac-12 First Team. In addition to his defensive responsibilities, the Salt Lake City native scored six goals on the season.

Also being named First Team All-Region was Darwin Jones who scored seven goals and added four assists in his first season as a Husky. The Highline Community College transfer gave opposing defenses fits all season with his pace and strength on the ball. Jones was also an All-Pac-12 First Team selection and now adds the regional honor.

Moberg was named to the second team after finishing second in the Pac-12 with nine assists. The central midfielder acted as the Huskies’ main playmaker all season, while also adding a one goal. Moberg was also named All-Pac-12 Second Team for his sophomore year.

Finally, Roldan added a Second Team All-Region honor after already being named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and to the All-Conference First Team. The Pica Rivera, Calif., native scored seven goals and added five assists for the Huskies this season.

Washington was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament by New Mexico last weekend, but the Dawgs still had a highly successful season with a Pac-12 title and a run to the Elite 8, the furthest a Washington team has ever advanced in the NCAA Tournament.

The four Huskies to earn All-Region honors were the most for the Dawgs since 2006 when the same number of players were honored. The four players were the most of any school in the Far West Region this season.
