DUPONT, Wash. -- The Washington women continued strong play at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship led by SooBin Kim who finished the stroke play portion of the tournament in a tie for second place.
Kim backed up a first round of 2-under 70 with a second round of 4-under 68. She is four strokes off the lead of fellow Korean Eun Jeong Seong who shot a stellar 8-under 64 on Tuesday. Kim will be one of the favorites as a 64-player match play field begins on Wednesday.
Also with strong rounds for the Dawgs were Eimi Koga and Jennifer Yang who each fired 2-under 70's. Koga is tied for 11th at 3-under, while Yang is tied for 17th at 2-under. Both Koga and Yang also easily advanced to the match play portion of the tournament.
Finally for the Dawgs, Cyd Okino fired a round of 5-over 77. She finished the two days at 5-over and just one shot away from advancing to match play.
The Huskies advancing to match play begin Wednesday, followed by two rounds Thursday, two rounds Friday and the championship on Saturday should they continue to advance.
