UW Notes | Pac-12 Release | Live Scoring

The Huskies enter this weekend’s Pac-12 Championship looking for the first conference title in school history. The Dawgs earned a best-ever runner-up finish last year and look to build on that momentum for a Pac-12 title this weekend. The Pac-12 is easily the most competitive conference in the country in women’s golf, featuring six of the top-11 teams in the golfstat rankings. No. 1 USC and No. 2 UCLA enter the weekend as the favorites, but Washington has the confidence of knowing it beat the Trojans in just two weeks ago by 13 strokes at the Silverado Invitational. Individually, Paige Mackenzie has the only Pac-12 title for Washington, coming back in 2006.

Mary Lou Mulflur will send a talented and experienced group to Corvallis to play in the Pac-12 Championships. Four of the Husky players are ranked in the top-60 in the rankings, including Jennifer Yang and SooBin who are currently tied for 15th. Yang has been the Dawgs most consistent player, finishing as the Huskies top finisher in four-straight tournaments until last week when Kim won the PING/ASU Invitational. Also with national rankings are Charlotte Thomas and Ying Luo. Thomas is currently ranked 34th and is third on the team with a 72.8 scoring average. Luo is ranked 60th and three top-10 finishes for the Huskies this season. Kelli Bowers will be the fifth player in the lineup as she plays in her third Pac-12 Championship, but first since her sophomore season.

UW IN 2013-14
Washington has been consistently in contention this season with bookend titles. The Dawgs opened the fall season with a historic 50-stroke victory at the Topy Cup in Japan, but then did not win again until mid-April with an impressive 13-stroke win at the Silverado Invitational against a field that included top-ranked USC. Overall, the Dawgs have seven top-three finishes and have rarely played their ultimal lineup, instead using each week to test different players. Individually, Thomas opened the season with a win at the Topy Cup in Japan, while Kim won her last time out at the Silverado Invitational. In addition to the wins, Kim has a runner-up, Yang has a pair of third-place finishes and Luo also has a third.

The Trysting Tree Golf Clun in Corvallis, Ore., is the home of the Oregon State golf teams. It will play as a 6,256-yard par 72 for the Pac-12 Championships. It is a links-style course with fast greens that are terraced. It’s a year round wide open course with water and sand that are the major hazards.

Admission to the three-day event is free.
