Round 2 Scores

TANAGURA, Japan -- Washington women's golf widened the lead at the Topy Cup after a second-straight day with the low team score. The Dawgs shot a round of 10-under par 278 and are now 16-under and 27 strokes ahead of second-place Oregon State.

"10-under today with everyone shooting under par with exception of Cyd who was very solid with 73 was excellent," said head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. I am just feeling a good vibe with this group right now."

The Dawgs were led by Ying Luo who fired a round of 4-under 68. She has taken over the individual lead at 6-under par. Luo overcame a bogey and a double on the front by making seven birdies en route to the low round of the tournament.

"It was great to see Ying have a nice subpar round as she hasn't been completely comfortable just yet," said Mulflur.  "She could have been even lower, but a couple of putts inside 3-4 feet didn't go in."

Behind Luo are a pair of Huskies tied for second place at 4-under par for the tournament. Charlotte Thomas shot a round of 69, while teammate Jennifer Yang fired a 70.

"Charlotte also played solid again and today she was able to finish off her round," said Mulflur. "Jen Yang chipped in for birdie on 9 to go 2-under and then parred every hole on the second nine."

Rounding out the Husky scoring was SooBin Kim who shot 71 for a second-straight day and is in fourth overall at 2-under.

"SooBin continues to score decently, but her putting causing her some frustration," said Mulflur.

The four Huskies that occupy the top four places overall are also the only ladies under par thus far.

Cyd Okino is tied for eighth after rounds of 75 and 73 for 4-over thus far.

Washington will be back out on the course Thursday morning in Japan to finish off their first tournament of the season, which looks to be more than likely the first victory.
