SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. -- Senior-to-be Kelli Bowers and 2011 UW gradKarinn Dickinson are among the 156 golfers competing at Sebonack Golf Club in the 2013 U.S. Women's Open Championship, starting Thursday and running through Sunday.
Bowers and Dickinson qualified for the Championship by taking the top two spots reserved from the sectional qualifier at Portland's Waverly Country Club.
Bowers just completed her junior season at Washington. She was limited to just three events during the year -- all in the fall -- after nursing a back injury. Bowers and Dickinson were teammates in 2011 when the Huskies advanced to the 2011 NCAA Championship. The freshman Bowers led UW with a 26th-place finish.
Dickinson was a four-year letterwinner at Washington. She had four top-10 finishes during her career, including two wins. She was the 2006 Norwegian Junior Champion.
Bowers is scheduled to tee off at 7:18 a.m. (ET) from No. 10, while Dickinson will tee off from No. 1 at 12:30 p.m. (ET).
