SEATTLE – This weekend the reigning IRA champion will make its 2013-14 competitive debut when the Washington men's rowing team takes part in the 49th annual Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass.

The UW men, under seventh-year head coach Michael Callahan, will send two boats to the Charles. The Huskies will compete in the Championship 4 race and the Championship 8, both on Sunday, Oct. 20. Washington will start with the four, which gets underway at 11:31 a.m. PT Sunday. The eights race begins at 11:54 a.m. PT.

Washington is coming off an undefeated Spring ’13 slate, and the Huskies did not do too bad last year at Charles. The eight took first at last year’s regatta with a time of 14:37.27 beating the Harvard crew by more than five seconds and conference foe California by almost 10. The four took silver last year with a time of 16:56.76 behind another conference opponent, Stanford.
