Who is an athlete you try to emulate?
I would like to emulate the Swiss tennis player Stanislas Wawrinka, winner of the last Australian Open. He never gave up in his career even when he was under the shadow of his teammate Roger Federer. He kept trying again and again from the beginning, and after every defeat he tried harder than before. And at the end he achieved his goal!

He gave me the best example of how perseverance is fundamental to reach any goal.

What is your favorite memory as a Husky?
My favorite memory is the first morning practice out on the lake. 6 a.m., the water was flat and it was completely silent. The only noise was made by the boat flowing on the water and the crew moving their oars. It was just amazing.

What is your rowing background?  What other sports have you played?
I am Italian and like 99% of italian kids I started to play soccer when I was 6 years old.

I started rowing in 2007, with very scattered results for the first years. In 2010 I started to win some Italian races, but the big change happened in 2011. That year and the year after, I won the gold at the world championships in the junior men 8+ with the Italian national team.

If you could be an athlete in another sport, what sport would it be?
I always liked skiing. I used to ski durinng Christmas holidays in the Swiss Alps, but I have never tried to do it at a competitive level.
