Washington's Marcus Peters was one of 39 collegiate players named to the preseason watch list for the Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the nation's top defensive back.

Peters, a junior from Oakland, Calif., earned second-team All-Pac-12 last year, starting 12 of the Huskies' 13 games. He notched 55 tackles and picked off five passes during the 2013 season.

Husky defensive players have been all over the 2014 preseason watch lists. Peters was named to the Bronco Nagurski Trophy list alongside teammates Hau'oli Kikaha, Danny Shelton and Shaq Thompson. All three of those were also on the Bednarik list while Shelton made the Outland Trophy and Thompson the Paul Hornung Award watch lists. Senior center Mike Criste earned a spot on the Rimington Trophy's list.
