SEATTLE – With the 129th overall pick on Friday, Washington junior right-handed pitcher Jeff Brigham was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Brigham, from Federal Way, Wash., just wrapped up his junior season with the Huskies going 7-4 with a 2.90 ERA, giving up 79 hits, 33 runs (29 earned) in 90 innings pitched. He gave up one run or less in each of his first six starts, 9 of 16 total, and turned in eight quality starts. Brigham was honorable mention All-Pac-12 and first team Pac-12 All-Academic.

In his last outing, Brigham equaled a season-high throwing 7 innings in a 2-1 Oxford Regional loss at Mississippi on June 1. He gave up two runs on seven hits, striking out four and tossing a season-high 124 pitches.

Brigham is the highest UW selection in the draft since Nick Hagadone was selected 55th overall in compensation first round. He was the only Husky selected in the first or second day of the draft.

Rounds 11 through 40 of the draft will be held Saturday.
