UW Adds Two To Incoming Freshman Class

SEATTLE -- Husky head coach Lesle Gallimore is happy to announce the addition of two more student-athletes that will be joining the Huskies for the fall 2014 season. Along with the five players that signed letters of intent in February, these two new additions will add to the talent to an already strong incoming freshmen class.

“We are excited to add two student-athletes to our 2014 class and believe Shaye and Jenay both have unique qualities that will help them be successful in the Pac-12,” said Gallimore. “Besides their on-field qualities, Shaye and Jenay are also outstanding students who will fit seamlessly into our team’s academic culture. We have just completed a very successful spring season and looking ahead, we are anxiously awaiting the start of preseason and introducing our incoming class to the traditions of Washington women’s soccer.”

Jenay McAuley – F

Seattle Preparatory School

Seattle, WA

McAuley is a local product who comes from Seattle Prep. She helped her team win League Championships in 2011 and 2012 as well as State Titles in 2010 and 2011. During her senior year, she led her team as captain to a fourth-place finish at State and was named to the Metro League Mountain Division Second Team. McAuley also participated in track and field and softball for Seattle Prep, earning All-Mountain honors in softball in 2011 and 2012 and making hte state final in the javelin in 2013. She played her club soccer for Emerald City Football Club in 2009 and at Seattle United Football Club from 2010-1014. As Team Captain in 2012, she competed at the U.S. Club Nationals in Idaho, the State Cup, finishing in third and National Club X Regionals where Seattle United won the championship.

Gallimore on McAuley:  “Jenay is a local recruit from Seattle Prep, a program that has a tradition of winning, and we believe her competitive drive will be great for the culture we have in our program. Jenay is a wide player that will provide a new element to our attack.”

Shaye Villanueva – M

‘Iolani School

Honolulu, HI

Villanueva comes to UW all the way from ‘Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawai’i. She missed all of her junior year with an ACL injury, but returned as a senior and earned First Team Interscholastic League of Honolulu honors, helping lead her team as captain to an ILC Championship and a third-place finish at the Excalibur Tournament in Orange County with two goals and 10 assists. She also scored four goals her freshman year, and as a sophomore, she earned Second Team ILH honors after helping her team to a State Tournament appearance with three goals and seven assists. Villanueva played for the Honolulu Bulls Soccer Club for 10 years and helped the HSC Bulls in the Surf Cup in 2011, where they were quarterfinalists, and in 2013 when they finished second in their pool.

Gallimore on Villanueva:  “Shaye is a technically clean midfielder that has had to overcome injuries earlier in her career. Shaye will help our midfield keep possession, while also having the ability to unlock defenses with her passing range.”
