WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday the conference all-academic team for women’s gymnastics. This year four GymDawgs made the cut.

To be eligible for selection to the all-academic team, a gymnast must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a significant contributor to event line-ups throughout the season. Senior Aliza Vaccher, juniors McKenzie Fechter and Jackie McCartin as well as sophomore Allison Northey are all members of the 2014 Pac-12 Women’s Gymnastics All-Academic team.

Vaccher and Fechter were both selected to the second team. Vaccher is a Eugene, Ore. native who will graduate in June with a major in psychology and a minor in international studies. This is the third all-academic selection for Vaccher and the second time she has been named to the second team. Her junior year saw her on the first team. This season she earned a career high 39.425 all-around on her senior night and would take home a share of the Pac-12 vault championship title after hitting a beautiful 9.950 at the championships in Berkeley, Calif. Vaccher was selected as a second-team all-arounder on the all-conference team.

Fechter from Mequon, Wis. is a communication major and was selected to the second team last year, as well. Fechter earned a career-high this season on beam with a 9.850 and a season-high on floor of 9.750 after only one week back on the event since last spring.

This year marks first-time selections for both McCartin and Northey, who were given honorable mention accolades. McCartin is a pre-arts & sciences major from West Covina, Calif. The specialist saw a career-high of 9.925 on bars this season as well as a 9.900 on both bars and beam at Pac-12s. Her beam performance would earn her a share of the second-place finish at Pac-12s and a selection to the all-Pac-12 first team beam squad.

For Northey, from Sammamish, Wash.,  this is the first all-academic selection for the pre-science major. Northey joined McCartin in a share of the Pac-12 beam second lace finish after also scoring a 9.900 at Pac-12s, a career-high for the sophomore. Northey was selected as a first-team all-Pac-12 all-around competitor, and had a career-high-tying AA score of 39.300 at the championships.
