TEMPE, Ariz. – Despite shooting three-over par in favorable, calm conditions at the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. on Saturday, the No. 11 Huskies are still within striking distance.

The Huskies are now in fourth place at one-under 575, one stroke behind Duke and Arizona State and seven strokes behind first place South Carolina.

“We are still right in it,” Mulflur said. “We know we are capable of a round tomorrow like South Carolina had today.”

Junior Jennifer Yang led the Huskies with a 3-under 69, posting six birdies and three bogeys. SooBin Kim was just one shot behind with a two-under 70, buoyed by four birdies and two bogeys.

Kim moved into second place on the individual leadboard with a two-under 70, just one stroke behind Duke’s Celine Boutier. Yang, meanwhile, is now in a tie for 6th place with three other players.

Rounding out the scores for the Huskies were Charlotte Thomas with a three-over 75, Kelli Bowers with a 5-over 77 and Ying Luo with a 6-over 78.  

No. 7 South Carolina moved into first place with a 2nd round 8-under 280, while No. 6 Arizona State and No. 3 Duke are tied for 2nd, at 2-under.
