SEATTLE – The No. 5 Huskies were bested by the No. 2 UCLA Bruins in the third and final game of their three-game Pac-12 series by a final of 4-0 Monday afternoon at Husky Softball Stadium.

The Huskies (21-7, 2-3) won game two of the series Sunday, 10-2, in five innings, but dropped game two to the Bruins (28-2, 5-1) on Saturday, 4-2, and lost game three Monday.

Bruins starting pitcher Ally Carda threw a complete-game shutout in moving to 17-1 on the season.

Senior Bryana Walker made her 16 start of the season for the Huskies and allowed just run one over 3.0 innings, but she took the loss and fell to 13-4. Kaitlin Inlgesby threw the final 4.0 innings in relief of Walker.

The Bruins took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 3rd after a hard-hit single scored UCLA shortstop Delaney Spaulding from 1st base. UCLA added a run in the 5th and two in the 7th on a home run by third baseman Mysha Sataraka.

The Huskies best chance to score came in the bottom of the 5th inning when pinch-hitter Dani Braun drove a one-out double. Kelli Suguro followed with a single, but Braun was thrown out at the plate, and the rally was ended.

With two outs in the bottom of the 6th, Hooch Fagaly got aboard on a single, which brought up team leader in home runs and RBI, Kylee Lahners. But Lahners hit a deep fly ball that was caught by UCLA, and the Huskies were turned away again.

Jennie McNeill reached twice for the Huskies, registering a single and a hit by pitch. Victoria Hayward went 0-for-2 and had her season-best 10-game hitting streak snapped. During the 10-game streak, Hayward hit .393 (11x28) with nine runs scored, two doubles and two RBI.

The Huskies next travel to No. 3 Oregon for three games, beginning Friday, March 28. All three games will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks.
