WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Husky guard Kelsey Plum was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the week for the sixth time. Plum had another outstanding week, averaging 22 points per game as the Dawgs swept Colorado and Utah on the road.
Friday, Plum shot 10-16 from the floor and 4-4 from the line, scoring 25 points as the Dawgs won 87-80 in Boulder. She scored 18 of her points in the second half as Washington overcame a one-point halftime deficit. Plum also added a career-best eight rebounds and two assists.
Sunday, Plum scored 19 points as Washington grinded out a 67-66 win over Utah. Plum was 5-12 from the field and 8-10 from the foul line, including the clinching free throw with seven seconds left. Plum also added seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal.
It was the sixth Freshman of the Week honor for Plum, who is averaging 19.9 points per game and 21.2 in Pac-12 play. The Huskies have now won five of six and improved to 8-6 in conference play and 15-10 overall.
The Dawgs will welcome Oregon and Oregon State to Alaska Airlines Arena this weekend for two more crucial conference games. UW will look to avenge a road loss in Eugene on Friday and then face the Beavers on Sunday who are currently one game up on the Dawgs in the conference standings.
