SEATTLE - Former All-Pac-10 Husky outside hitter Stevie Mussie has been named an assistant coach for the Penn State Nittany Lions, it was announced this week. Mussie has made an impact as an assistant at several programs since graduating from UW in 2008.

Mussie is a native of Puyallup, Wash. and a former Gatorade Washington State Player of the Year. She played two years at Pacific then transferred to Washington in 2005 and redshirted the season. In 2006, Mussie was named MVP of the Seattle Regional as the Huskies advanced to their third straight Final Four with a quarterfinal win over Penn State, which must have left an impression. In the win over Penn State, Mussie had 20 kills and 13 digs, and an ace while hitting .375. Her senior year in 2007, Mussie was named to the All-Pac-10 Team.

Prior to her new job, Mussie was an assistant coach for two years at the University of Virginia, and for two years before that at North Carolina State. She also assisted one season at Colorado in 2008.
