SEATTLEWith the cozy confines of the Dempsey, the Husky track team rarely ventures out during the indoor season, but Coach Metcalf and the Dawgs will change that this weekend with a trip to the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque.

The meet, held at the AlbuquerqueConvention Center, gives the Huskies some extra incentive as it is the site of the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships next month. Many of the thirty-one Huskies in action this weekend will aim to return for nationals, potentially with marks set this weekend.

The meet begins Friday evening and continues Saturday morning into the late afternoon. Live results are available on liverunningresults.com

A great field is heading to Albuquerque including athletes from Arkansas, Kansas State, Texas, Texas Tech, Nevada, Rice, and the hometown Lobos of New Mexico.

Huskies making the trip include the sprinters, jumpers, vaulters, and mid-distance runners, with the throwers and long distance runners remaining in Seattle.

For the women, Haley Jacobson, Krista Armstead, Gianna Woodruff, and Kayla Stueckle are all entered among the 60m, 200m, 400m, and the 4x400m relay, with Kimberly Stueckle in the 60m hurdles. C.J. Smith runs at 800-meters.

Six Husky women will be in the pole vault: Logan Miller, Diamara Planell Cruz, Ashley Schnapp, Elizabeth Quick, Kristina Owsinski, and Georgia Reynolds. ShaniaeLakes and Jaleecia Roland are scheduled to triple jump.

On the men’s side, sprinters Quadelle Satterwhite, Travis Marshall, and Andrew Brown will run between the 60m and 400m. Devin Liebel, Howard Lao, and Chris Williams will go in the 60-meter hurdles. Izaic Yorks, Derrick Daigre, Meron Simon, Blake Nelson, and Mason Fletcher are all entered at 800-meters.

The men’s high jump features A.J. Maricich and Joe Knight, while the men’s vault has Jax Thoirs, and J.J. Juilfs. Kasen Covington and Julian Bardwell will compete in both the long and triple jumps.
