Huskies Outlast BYU, 4-3

SEATTLE -- The No. 41 University of Washington Women's Tennis Team picked up its fourth win of the 2014 season with a 4-3 victory over BYU Friday in the Dawgs' first home match of the year.

The Huskies easily won the doubles point taking all three matches. Julija Lukac and Andjela Nemcevic finished first with a 6-2 win followed by Elianne Douglas-Miron/Riko Shimizu's clinching 6-2 victory over Mayci Jones and Nicolette Tran. 

In singles action, UW struck first with Nemcevic taking a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Morgan Anderson-Littlewood to put the Dawgs up 2-0. Douglas-Miron was the next Husky to post a singles victory as she outlasted Meghan Sheehan-Dizon 6-4, 1-6, 11-9. 

Playing in the number one spot for the first time this season, Grace Ysidora dropped her match 7-5, 6-4 but the Dawgs saved the match after Lukac picked up a 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 win over Nicolette Tran. 

The Dawgs stay at home for the next month with 10-straight matches in Seattle, starting with UC Santa Barbara at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9.
