SEATTLE- The University of Washington Women’s Tennis Team, ranked 41st nationally, competes in their first home match of the season this Friday, January 31st against Brigham Young University.
The Huskies started off their season strong with three-straight wins to open regular season play. In their first matches of the season, UW dominated Hawaii , 6-1 before outlasting No. 42 Long Beach State 5-2. The Dawgs then headed to the ITA Kickoff Weekend and defeated No. 50 UNLV 4-3 with Grace Ysidora clinching the match before falling to eighth-ranked Cal 4-0.
In BYU’s lone regular season match they fell to the University of Tulsa 0-7. The Cougars are a fairly young team, playing three freshmen in their first regular season match.
Led by senior Andjela Nemcevic, the Huskies look to capitalize against this young BYU team and gain momentum for the long-home stretch coming up in February as they play their next nine regular season games at home in Seattle.
