SEATTLE – Huskies senior outfielder Victoria Hayward and senior pitcher Kaitlin Inglesby were both named to the Top 50 Watch List for the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, as announced by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) and USA Softball on Wednesday.

This marks the first time Hayward has been named to the Watch List. Inglesby was nominated last season.

Last season, Inglesby garnered First-Team All-American honors, as well as First-Team All-Pacific Region and First-Team All-Pac-12 accolades. Inglesby compiled a record of 23-9 in the circle in 2013 with a 1.95 ERA and 141 strikeouts over 187.0 innings pitched. She also hit .354 at the plate, with 12 home runs, and 62 RBI.

Hayward was named First-Team All-Pacific Region and First-Team All-Pac-12 in 2013 after batting .372 with 57 runs scored, 73 hits, 21 RBI, and 22 stolen bases.

Danielle Lawrie, the only Husky to win the Collegiate Player of the Year award, claimed the award in 2009 and 2010.

Hayward and Inglesby are two of 12 players from the Pac-12 to be named to the Watch List in 2014.

The Top 25 finalists for the Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced by ASA and USA Softball on April 9. The complete list of this year’s 50 finalists can be viewed here.
