SEATTLE - While the Husky Baseball team has yet to face an opponent on the field this season, the team is winning by a landslide in the classroom and in the community.

The 42 student-athletes that were with the team in the fall combined to sport a 3.03 GPA in the classroom.  Twenty-five players had a grade point average of 3.0 or better during autumn quarter, including four player's that made the Dean's List. As a team, the overall cummulative GPA of the group is 2.99.

Sophomore Duncan Hendrickson, a pre-engineering major, led all team members with a 3.83 GPA during the quarter. Josh Cushing, Josh Fredendall and Kellen Traxel also made the Dean's List.

Over the last 10 quarters, the Huskies have averaged no less than a 2.91 GPA during any quarter. Prior to the current string, in the previous 13 quarters, the Huskies never had an overall GPA over 2.9.

In the community, several of the players are spending their Mondays over the next few weeks volunteering for the YMCA after-school program at Eckstein Middle School. The student-athletes will spend two hours during their off-days playing activitites like kickball, flag football, basketball and parkour and participating in classroom activities like cooking, music producing and latin studies.

The Huskies continue to practice every day, except Mondays, until the regular season starts Feb. 14 at the Texas State Tournament.
