WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Washington guard Kelsey Plum earned her third Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor, Monday. The Poway, Calif., native led the Huskies to a 2-1 record this week, averaging 21.3 points per game.
For the week, Plum averaged 21.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists. On Monday, she led four double-digit scorers, tallying a career-high 25 points, including making a career-best six threes, to
help the Huskies hold off UC Irvine, 72-69. She also led all scorers in the team’s Conference opener, scoring 23 in another close victory, 55-52, over Arizona. For the week, Plum made 10-of-22 attempts from 3-point range and improved her scoring average to 18.5 points per game.
Plum is currently fifth in the Pac-12 in scoring and also third in free-throw shooting, having made 55-64 (85.9 percent).
Plum three Freshman of the Week honors are one shy of Chrishae Rowe of Oregon. Overall, Plum and Rowe have earned seven of the nine for the season.
Plum and the Dawgs now head to Pullman for a quick turnaround game against Washington State. The Huskies put their 36-game winning streak on the line against the Cougars on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
