HONOLULU – The University of Washington Men’s Tennis team won two titles on the final day of their dual meet with the University of Hawaii which concluded the 2013-14 fall season for UW.
Max Manthou and Viktor Farkas outlasted Hawaii’s Pavel Liska and Nils Schuhmann, 8-6 in the flight one doubles final before Manthou went on to defeat Danilo Casanova, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in the hard-fought flight one singles final. Manthou was down 5-2 in the third set and won out after saving six match points. It was the fifth match of the fall for the Huskies where match point was saved and UW went on to take the match.
Farkas also won his singles match defeating David Schuster, who’s dad Keith Schuster once played for the Huskies, in flight two, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Joining him in flight two was Jeff Hawke who won in straight-sets over Pavel Liska, 6-3, 7-6. Hawke was named the flight two champion in the tiebreaker with Farkas since his matches were decided in straight sets.
Also in singles action, Rish Raman won the flight three singles title in a very rare 6-0, 6-0 victory over Chris Meyer.
The Huskies are now off until January 16 when they start the spring season.
