Handful of Huskies advance in dual at Hawaii

HONOLULU – The University of Washington men’s tennis team fared well on the first day of a dual meet with the University of Hawaii as three doubles pairs along with four singles moved on to the next round of their flights at the match.

Following a rain delay, the doubles pair of Max Manthou and Viktor Farkas defeated Chris Meyer and David Schuster of Hawaii, 8-5, and will move on to face the duo of Pavel Liska and Nils Schumann on Saturday for the Flight One Doubles Final. Also advancing in doubles action was Rishabh Raman and Dragos Puscalau who posted an 8-5 victory of Marcel Chen and Carter Lam.

In singles action Max Manthou outlasted Nils Schuhmann (Hawaii), 3-6, 7-6 before Schuhmann retired the match advancing Manthou to face Danilo Casanova on Saturday in the flight one championship. In flight two, Jeff Hawke defeated David Schuster, 6-4; 4-6; 6-4 and Viktor Farkas beat Pavel Liska 6-7; 6-4; 6-1. The two Huskies will swap opponents as Hawke will now face Liska and Farkas will play Schuster on Saturday.

Flight three action saw Rishabh Raman win 7-6, 6-4 over Carter Lam. Raman will now face Chris Meyer for the flight’s title.

The matches, which are the Huskies last of the fall season, continue on Saturday in Honolulu.

Viktor Farkas d. Pavel Liska (Hawaii) 6-7, 6-4, 6-1

Rishabh Raman d. Carter Lam (Hawaii), 7-6, 6-4

Flight 4 Singles
Marcel Chen (Hawaii) d. Dragos Puscalau, 6-1, 6-4
