Parker, Wade Lead UW Pac-12 Academic Honorees

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Senior Gabbi Parker and sophomore Melanie Wade lead eight Huskies that were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Team today, the conference office announced. Parker and Wade were each named to the second team, with six more Huskies earning honorable mention.

Seven conference student-athletes are named to the first team, and seven more to the second team. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Parker was honorable mention the past two seasons and moved up to the second team this year. The senior from Eugene, Ore. owns a 3.71 grade point average and is majoring in Early Childhood & Family Studies.

Wade (Palo Alto, Calif.) was also named to the second team with a 3.86 GPA focusing in Pre-Humanities. Wade is the only sophomore on either the first or second team.

Earning honorable mention honors is senior Kylin Muñoz, senior Jenna Orlandini, junior Krista Vansant, sophomore Katy Beals, sophomore Cassie Strickland, and sophomore Lianna Sybeldon. It’s the fourth straight honorable mention for Muñoz and Orlandini, and the first such honors for the other four.
