SEATTLE – University of Washington Women’s Tennis head coach Jill Hultquist announced on Friday that international junior tennis standout Miki Kobayashi (Japan) signed a letter of intent to join the Huskies starting in the 2014-15 season.

“We’re very excited to add Miki to the Husky family,” Hultquist said. “ She’s a good international player with a lot of experience. We believe she’ll be a great asset to our she as she is very talented. We look forward to helping her continue to grow as a player and person at UW.”

Kobiyashi, a right-handed player who will come to Seattle from Japan, recorded wins over top 50 players on the world juniors list during the 2013 season. She most recently defeated Australia’s Sara Tomic (No. 48) at the World Super Junior Tennis Championships in Osaka in October and has been active on the international circuit since starting tennis at age 10.
