WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Washington's Travis Coons has been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for special teams, the Conference office announced today.
Coons, a senior from Alta Loma, Calif., has been handling place kicks, kickoffs and punts for the Huskies the last few weeks and turned in another terrific performance in Washington's 41-17 win over California. Three of his eight punts were downed inside the Cal 10-yard line and he also remained perfect on field goals for the season, hitting attempts from 42 and 46 yards. The 46-yarder was a career-long.
Husky tailback Bishop Sankey and defensive back Tre Watson were also nominated for the offensive and defensive honors, respectively.
Washington has this Saturday off, but returns to action Nov. 9 vs. Colorado. That game, it was announced today, will kick off at 5:00 p.m. PT and air on the Pac-12 Networks.
