STORSS, Conn. -- Some Unfortunate news came out of last night's Husky men's soccer game as MAC Herman Trophy candidate Spencer Richey broke his leg in the 84th minute. The No. 10 Dawgs would go on to earn a 0-0 draw with No. 3 Connecticut, but Richey will be lost for the season.

Richey was a preseason All-America candidate entering his fourth year as the Husky starter. He underwent surgery on Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery.

The Seattle native appeared in good spirits considering the circumstances, even tweeting a picture of his x-ray from the hospital.

Richey will be eligible to apply for a medical redshirt and attempt to return to UW for fifth year if he chooses. The decision on whether or not Richey wants to return for a fifth year will be made at a later date.

In the meantime, redshirt sophomore Ryan Herman takes over in goal for the Huskies. Herman was already considered a starting-caliber goalkeeper, but was stuck behind Richey.

The Dawgs will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Providence, R.I., to face No. 25 Brown.
