SAINT LOUIS -- Washington goalkeeper Spencer Richey was one of the 31 players named to the MAC Herman Trophy Watch List for 2013. The Herman Trophy is given to the top player in collegiate soccer and is considered the Heisman of soccer.
Richey is a three-year starter who returns for his senior year as the backbone of the Husky defense. He was an All-Pac-12 player a year ago after finishing with a 0.854 goals against average, while making 68 saves.
Richey is one of four goalkeepers on the 2013 watch list. The others were Andre Blake of Connecticut, John McCarthy of LaSalle andof Northwestern.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in college soccer presented annually to one male and one female athlete. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
The 2013 Watch Lists were announced earlier today on the “NSCAA Weekly College Highlights and Review Show” on NSCAATV.com, with last season’s highlights and interviews with previous winners.
