SEATTLE - The University of Washington announced the hiring of Robert Sasaki in the position of Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance, and Chief Financial Officer, Monday. Sasaki comes to Washington after serving as Director of Product Engine Investments at Nike, Inc., and most recently President of LaCrosse Footwear Inc.
Sasaki brings a wealth of experience in business and financial forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, product costing and management reporting and analysis. His areas of oversight will include departmental budget oversight, as well as strategic financial planning and operations.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Robert to the Husky family,” Scott Woodward, director of athletics, said. “To bring someone with his skills and experience into our executive team will pay immediate dividends. He will play an integral part in shaping the longterm vision of what Husky Athletics can become.”
Sasaki has spent nearly 10 years with Nike, Inc., and was responsible for controlling and managing over $580 million of budgeted annual expenditures in Nike’s product engines and design functions.
“I’m thrilled to become a part of Washington Athletics, and I’d like to thank Scott Woodward for this opportunity,” Sasaki said. “There are so many incredible things happening right now at UW, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to help shape the way this department can grow.”
