Panevezys, Lithuania -- Incoming freshman Kelsey Plum began play with Team USA at the U-19 World Championships on Thursday. Plum helped the United States to a 113-47 victory over Lithuania, contributing seven points.
The San Diego native came off the bench to play 16 minutes and provide a balanced stat line. Along with her seven points, Plum had six rebounds, three assists and four steals. She was 3-4 from the field, including 1-2 from 3-point range, showing her ability to score both driving to the hoop and shooting from range.
Plum and Team USA already played in a smaller tournament in the Canary Islands as a tune-up for the World Championships. Team USA went 3-0 in wins over Australia, China and Canada. Plum played just over 16 minutes and averaged 3.3 points per game.Next up for Team USA is China on Friday and Mali on Saturday as part of Group D pool play.
