WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington enjoyed a big turnout on the Pac-12 All-Academic Track & Field Team, with 38 student-athletes earning mention and 11 Huskies named to the first or second teams. Six of the All-Academic honorees are in Eugene this week competing at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Washington had two First Team selections on both the men's and women's sides. Senior Dan Sanders earns his first career First Team honor after he was named to the Second Team last year. Sanders has a 3.56 GPA in Computer Engineering. Senior Jeremy Taiwo, competing in the first day of the NCAA decathlon today in Oregon, earned First Team honors for the second time. He has a 3.54 cumulative, majoring in International Studies.

Seniors Christine Babcock and Ally Mueller each are on the women's First Team for the third consecutive seasons. Babcock, set to run the NCAA 5k final on Friday, has a 3.93 GPA in Early Childhood & Family Studies. Mueller, a javelin letter-winner, has a matching 3.93 GPA in Biochemistry.

Senior Jimmy Brookman (3.45; Accounting) made the Second Team for the third straight year, and he's joined by fellow javelin standouts Quinn Hale (3.39; Pre-Major) and Joe Zimmerman (3.32; Geography), both making the Second Team for the first time. Another thrower, sophomore shot putter Danny Shelton (3.45; Pre-Social Science), is on the Second Team.

Three women's distance runners made the women's Second Team, all for the first time. Senior Kayla Evans (3.69; Biology), senior Justine Johnson (3.72; English), and sophomore Eleanor Fulton (3.77; Pre-Health Sciences) all excelled on the track and in the classroom.

In addition, 27 more Huskies were named honorable mention. To be eligible for the team, an athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0.
