Husky Rowing Experience:
2001 (Freshman)--Rowed three seat in the freshman eight that won a gold medal at IRA Championships, Washington's first gold since 1997 ... also led Huskies to a gold medal at the Pac-10 Championships, UW's first gold by an eight since 1997 ... crew was undefeated in grand finals, also winning at the Windermere Cup, Cal and Oregon State duals and at the San Diego Crew Classic.

2002 (Sophomore)--Rowed four seat in the varsity eight that won a bronze medal at IRA Championships ... member of the crew that won silver at Pac-10's and the San Diego Crew Classic ... won at the Windermere Cup ... helped lead Huskies to victories at the California, Wisconsin and Oregon State duals.

2003 (Junior)--Opened the season in the No. 5 seat, then moved to the bow for one race before settling into the No. 2 spot for the final five regattas of the season ... helped the UW varsity eight to its first Pac-10 championship since 1997 ... member of the silver medal crew at the IRA Championships ... rowed on UW's victorious eight in the Ladies Challenge Plate competition at the prestigious Henley Regatta in England.

National Team Experience: Rowed on the US national team summer 2002 ... won bronze in the pair at the 2002 Under-23 World Championships. Personal: Son of Jane and Mark Burns ... mother is a pediatrician and father is a urologist ... both attended Washington ... one younger brother, Joe (15) ... Eagle Scout ... father rowed for UW in the 1970's.

Favorite class: Engineering 100.
My best race was: 2002 Cal dual when we broke their four-year winning streak.
After I graduate, I plan to: Get a job.
If I could tell my incoming teammates one thing, it would be: It's hard work, but it's fun at the same time.
